doesn't matter. you can run a p72 with or w/o the IAB's. you don't need to wire them up (obviously).

well im running a skunk2 IM with my gsr but running a chipped p28. I heard from most people its better to run it this way since the ecu will actually run correctly since the p72 has dual vtec engagement points. I haven't heard anyone running wit the stock p72 with a Skunk2 IM yet. It might with work without the IAB but not totally sure.

i don't understand why people say to use a chipped p28 with the skunk 2 manifold. all the p72 does is send a signal at 5700 to open the iab's, it's not like it changes the fuel or ignition timing. the only reason that i could see to use a chipped p28 would be to change the vtec crossover to a higher rpm. could anyone confirm or denye this.

well if you said you had a chipped p28 i was going to say don't worry about it. But if you just have an unchipped p72 you won't be getting the most out of your skank2 mani.

Sure it'll work fine without it being hooked up, as does my stock gsr mani with no iab hooked up (manual switch actually). But the p72 will deliver fuel based on the gsr manifold specifics it expects, including the IAB switchover.

So i say, forget about the iab plug, of course, and get the ecu custom tuned and chipped.

you sure about that?

you can just as easily do that with a p72

Isn't a chipped p28 is cheaper than a stock p72? the big down side of a chipped p28 over the p72 that i see is the loss of the knock sensor.

so the p72 does compensate fuel for the iab's ? if thats the case then i can see why you would have to have it chipped. thanks daver for clearing that up for me

..well this is my assumption, it would be remiss for honda to allow all that extra air in at the changover, and not add extra fuel. Just like the vtec changover.

The big point of having it chipped is the skank2 lets in even more air and that = even more fuel. But, "they" say the p72 runs plenty rich, so who knows, maybe the end result will be a little richer hear and a little leaner there. Only custom dyno tuning can handle that.
