Skunk 2 Stage2 cams and compression numbers...
i have an ls block with a gsr crank, CTR pistons and a p&p head milled .30. i assume my compresion is
about 12:1 give or take a few. i got itr cams right now but i plan on running skunk stage2.
do i have enough compression to run those? i know you need to tune them, but i hear stories about
these cams not performing well cuz of low compression or other stuff. basicly i just wanna know your
thoughts on my setup.
im sure youve heard this question before, but i searched ad didnt find what i was looking for.
thx

12:1 sounds like a pretty good CR to run the Skunk stage 2's. Any higher and the crappy 91 octane we get here in CA isn't gonna cut it. What happened to the B16??

12:1 is good for the stage 2's, I'm going to be running a lower compression than that, when mine go in.

I can understand if you're worried about the rod/stroke ratio or whatever..but I'm curious on why you have a GSR crank in your LS bottom end?

If you don't mind me asking, what kinda valve springs do you guys run with your skunk2 stage 2's? I have porftlow valve springs currently in my car and was wondering if i should switch those out for skunk2 valve springs? Also, would running 11.6:01 be enough compression to get good results with these cams? Or is it better to stick with the stage 1's when compression is <12.0:01?

Get the Skunk2 valvetrain upgrade. 12:1 would be good compression for stage 2, you can run a little higher though.

Im using portflows. It's the same **** so if I were you, I would leave it, unless you got money up the ***. 11.6 is fine with the stage 2's. It depends too of how much power you really want. If I didnt use my car to go up and down LA so much, i wouldve go the stage 3's.

I have some stage 2's sitting in my room right now.
My compression is about 11.4:1 in my lsvtec. That should
be enough.
