Default skunk 2 camber kit problem

because its about a sol and hardly anyone actually goes to the suspension forum, im copying it here.

Whats up guys, my buddy had a skunk2 camber kit on the front of his del sol and the arms put 2 holes on the inner fender pannel on each side. almost looked like someone took a can opener from the underside of the car. Anyone else experice this? should i expect another brand (like omni) might do the same to my car?

His car was dropped im going to say maybe 2 or 3 inches? (he had about a 1/2" -1" wheel gap.

The arms were nowhere near the body of the car while sitting, but hitting bumps in the road obviously cause the arm to come up

This is where i can remember the holes being:

Also, im wondering what is a good negative camber to run in the rear for good cornering. Im going to be running koni yellows with ground control springs at 430 front and 545 rear and i worried about having to much oversteer on the street. What camber will let the wheels hook up better in the rear and not kill the tires too much?

Dude how can the car be dropped 3 or 4 inches and still have ANY wheel well gap?! Are you kidding me. My car is dropped like 1.5 inches and it has almost no gap. If hes dropped 3 or 4 inches his car is almost laying on the ground and ridding on the bump stops. Speaking of bump stops, did he remove them? Because if hes a dumb *** like I think his is thats why the camber arms went through the sub frame like that. Bump stops prevent things like this from happening...

first off smart ***, if u read, nothing there says 3-4 inches. Second, its not like its my car so i dont know hoew far exactly it was dropped (like i said) i do however know it had about 1/2" - 1" of wheel gap.

And he did have the bump stops in cut as per the instructions that came with the kit. thanks

omnis are the same as the old skunk design but if your worried about putting holes in your car, dont cut the bump stops on aftermarket shocks. The reasons for the holes is that there is too much travel in your suspension, resulting into your a-arms hitting your inner fender. Also the skunks are alot beefier or bigger compared to your stock a-arms.

When I installed my camber kit, it moved the control arm out so far it hit the body under the fender well. I had to drop it back from 3 degrees of correction to 1.5 degrees. Then everything cleared.

thanks for the actual input guys.

I have this setup:

and the bump stops sit up inside of the top hats. So im thinking there still wont be anything there to keep the A arm from comming up too far (except maybe my 430/545 spring rates)

It doesn't come up to far. Its more out to far. Gotta really look at the a arm when the car is on the ground. it sits inside the fenderwell. If you slide the adjusters out to far, they might hit <this is on the camber kit

what camber kit did you use? Im thinking different designs will sit differently and might not have this issue.

A different style than what you have. But I have seen the slide style hit.
Both kits do the same thing. Push the control arm out. Just different looks for the same result

Skunk 2 would be the best option. The adjustabilty is so much better than most kits

Its the same thing. Just skunk 2 is allitle better quality.
Your buddy just didn't have proper instalation. And he had to have drove it like that for awhile for it to beat the car like that.
Trust me, mine hit and i knew instantly something was wrong. Just have to use some common sense.
