I have a 97 civic and im undecided of which front end i should go with or which one has a better deal.. the sir front end comes with headlights fenders bumper and hood.. The 00 ctr comes with grill bumper fenders hood and black housing headlights and ctr lip ... They are both for $500....Let me know

The "black housing headlights" with the CTR front end. Are they aftermarket black housing headlights or are they real Type R headlights?
I'm personally not a fan of front end conversions though.
The Si has the same basic front end as a '99-'00 Type R, besides the lights.
The Type R standard front lip is, in fact, the same lip that the Si got standard and the same lip '99-'00 US coupes had as an option (fits '99-'00 hatches and sedans also).
But the OP mentioned he has a 1997 Civic. Something like this.
He's torn between getting an "SiR" front end (bumper, fenders, headlights - did not mention lip), like this:
Or doing a '99-'00 front end conversion and getting a '99-'00 Civic Type R front end (bumper, fenders, grille, headlights, lip), like this:
The fenders are basically the same as USDM fenders, besides they have a sidemarker. The hoods are the same. The '99-'00 Type R lip is the same as the US Si lip.

Re: sir vs 00 ctr
Leave it as a 96-98, no need for a conversion to the newer front
$500 would be a good deal with real ctr headlights, altho I paid 260 for my si front end sans the hood

get the CTR front end.to me it all has to do with the foglights even tho you can put fog lights on a 98 front end they dont look better than the 00 front end

Thats the CTR front i was refering to. That lip. I know what a Sir looks like. With the bumper mouldings and all. But most people get the SiR lip which looks a lot like the Si lip. Thats what i was refering to.

Re: sir vs 00 ctr
I seriously doubt its genuine parts for $500. Real CTR lights are at least $350-400 alone. For its its between the 6th gen CTR and 7th gen CTR. I like the simplicity of the older but I also like the modern look of the newer. SiR doesnt look great to me.

"SiR" Lip
Painted "SiR" Lip
1999 - 2000 Optional Lip ("Si" Lip)
For a '96-'98 Civic you can fit the SiR bumpers on without any modification.
For the '99-'00 bumper you will need to replace your bumper, hood, fenders, headlights and grille. You might need to modify the new bumper or your old core support or replace the core support.

bingo!! i was going to do the '00 conversion myself on my '97 but did'nt have the cash to do it at the time. now slowly i've bought a cf hood, headlights, grill, lip, side markers and it does'nt look half bad, still when i buy a hatch if it's a 96-98 i'm gonna do a '00 ctr conversion

Re: sir vs 00 ctr
i hear what you're saying but sometimes (like in my case) i needed a car, i looked and looked (and then looked some more) but was'nt able to find a 99 or 00. even now that i am looking for a hatch no luck, i keep finding mostly 96 or 97 very few 98's. so if i cant find what i'm looking for a conversion is a good option.
