If your car already has Vtec, it won't be hard at all. Your friend is a liar, and just wants to be cooler than you with his JDM vtec.

LoL
I'm curious to know what the fu*k a "v" is too?
You mean single cam?
...cam = camshaft...
Single cam = SOHC...
I'm not sure if you just can't think worth of crap, or you can't put your thoughts into words, but you're gonna have to explain what the hell you want better if you need any help.

When you say "single v" do you mean "SOHC VTEC"? That is to say, Single OverHead Cam Variable valve Timing and lift Electronic Control?
If so (just to make it clearer for everyone):
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by p3terson17 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I have a '92 Civic hatch with a D15Z1 VTEC engine. My friend just got a '99 JDM SOHC VTEC installed in his '95 hatch. He told me there is a big difference between the two engines.
I was wondering if I get a '99 JDM SOHC VTEC will it be a big difference for me. If yes, what mods can I do to the JDM engine to make it even better. If I get just the engine can I still use everything else from my car or do I have to get a new tranny, ECU, etc.?
Please help.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Now (if that's correct), we should be able to carry on with the conversation and not be worried about poor grammar, spelling and punctuation.
The D15Z1 (5G VX hatch engine) I believe actually has VTEC-E (economy), so yes, there could be a difference in part because of that. I haven't looked much into VTEC-E engines though and have never driven one either, so I couldn't tell you by any experience.
The D15Z1 also is rated at 92 hp @ 5500 rpm and 97 lb-ft @ 4500 rpm.
Which engine does your friend have? I narrowed it to probably being one of these Civic engines (the only SOHC JDM '99 engines I can think of): D13B, D15B or D16A.

i have feeling his friend has a z6 and doesnt know much and yes a z6 would feel faster because it comes with more ponies(about 18%ish more) and it has shorter tranny. but is it really fast or even quick?........................no, boost your motor.

Re: (big-cat)
The D15Z1 is a lean burn engine design, and is strictly used for economy only, you wont be able to squeeze a lot of performance with that head and PCM. The D15B-VTEC is rated to put out 130hp, and with the tranny it has, it is significantly faster than a D15Z1.

Strange that I haven't seen it in the JDM EPC then. The JDM EPC mentions engines by engine code and chassis code.
The JDM EPC mentions only the engines I mentioned above as being SOHC engines that came in JDM EK sedans and hatches or the JDM EJ7 coupes.
There are Integras that had ZCs in Japan in 1999 though (DB6, DB9 and DC1).
