Default A Simple Question.

Hey guys I just started taking my time learning more about engines and how they work. I got an EG hatch not long ago and I'm starting to mod it. I was reading about camshafts and have a question. If you change camshafts would you not also have to change the timing belt or adjust when then spark happens? Thanks in advance for the answers.

Depending on how new the belt is, I would change it, simply becuase you are already in there, you might as well as well do it then. Along with water pump, tensioner. This is assuming they haven't been replaced recently.

You can't adjust the spark. You can adjust the timing, but that is all I know of.

Well I was planning on replacing most everything with new parts anyways because I don't know when they were last changed. Thanks for the reply. I'll be taking my time might as well get as much done while at it.

Go OEM on parts such as those. Trust me, it's worth the extra bit of money.

You can adjust the timing via the distributor bolt. Just loosen it and turn the cap. How do you think ignition timing is set?
