Default simple ECU questions

Ok here goes, i have a usdm gsr motor swapped in my 92 eg, its running on a p28 ecu. My question is...since its a gsr motor and it was designed to run on a gsr ecu does running it on a p28 effect its performace? The motor runs fine only difference is that vtec is at 5500 and not at 4400 or whatever the stock gsr vtec should be. In other words would it be better for me to get my p28 chipped for a gsr or would that just be wasting my time?
