side skirt paint?

Re: side skirt paint? (takumi_79)
I painted mine in my backyard last summer. I bought Duplicolor paint, primer, and clearcoat. I did them in the summer because letting them sit in the sun helps to "bake" on the paint so it doesnt chip. It only cost me 30 bucks at the most and I can not tell a difference in the color from the stock color.
Just an idea if you want something cheap and functional.

to do it right you need some kinda of special primer since the skirts are textured kinda. i had mine done by a friend for free, but normally he would have charged $50 for both. dont let anyone talk you out of doing it...it looks badass

try sanding all the texturing off then spray it with a good primer and duplicolor paint. Mine lasted a while until it started chipping and then I just had the body shop paint them. 1 yr later they still look good

yep mine chip like crazy but i also kind of ghetto rigged it in the first place... its been over a year, and other than a few chips its ok... better than stock black anyway...
i painted mine without taking them off, and my buddies and i mixed lexus white with honda white so its almost 2 tone... from far away looks great, up close u see the imperfections and the chips, and it's not as glossy as i'd like. still, when my car is dirty and unwashed for a while, the paintjob onthe skirts look just like dirt hehehe. no one can tell

I recommend getting the OEM skirts and painting them the color you want if you cant get them in the color you want . The OEM's are thicker and heavier material and would be less likely to chip from flexing and vibration .

reason why i'd like to do it by myself is because they're asking too much money for those side skirt paint.. well, i've gone 2 differnt places, and both of them asked for $150...
