side effects of running a shot of NOS
I am not going to run a set up with NOS, and thats cool if people want to do that, just was wondering what happens to the internals of the engine, what sort of abuse is put on the internals.
When people blow engines b/c of it why does that happen....Is it the headgasket that goes or something other than that?
Any info is appreciated thanks

damn, how big of a shot was he running? if you're running just a 50 shot then you should have no problems with your engine.

If tuned properly the motor can last a long time on nitrous. Assuming proper maintanence too of course. Detonation is the main cause of nitrous destroying a motor. With proper fuel enrichement and good tuning this is easily avoided.

LOL MY favorite thing in the movie...except maybe the race that took like 5 minutes and they stopped at the start line...hows that happening.
Come to think of it the whole movie is kinda funny...used to hate it now I just laugh through it.

Yup, I used nitrous for over 2 years with no problems.... tuning is key with nitrous, just as with any forced induction application.

And it can make washers inexplicable shoot out from your footwells and make the footpanel fly off.

you're running a 75 shot on a 00 d16y8 right? what other mods do you have to be able to run such a big shot? i have a d16y8 too and i'm considering getting nitrous to.

i eventually lbew my headgasket from what i assumed was stretched head bolts. Not a major failure. Anyway, that was from serous abuse, low RPM squeezes, long period squeezes on highway, and then eventually switching to boost and revving to 7800 rpm on stock motor. You will be fine with a 75 shot on a stock d16y8 unless you do retarded things like i have.

255lph HP fuel pump, and get an fpr at minimum for tuning.

thats what I'm running, with BK7RE NGK plugs, and timing set at 14 degrees, thats it....no probs yet, but if I pop it, I've got a ITR ready to go in

i ran mine at 18 degrees for quite some time, and would still be doing so, but I'm not really ready to swap it yet....

Re: side effects of running a shot of NOS (boostin93civic)
The worst thing about having Nitrous is that if anyone shoots your car with an uzi a bald guy will yell "NOSSSSS!!!!" and then your car will explode and you'll owe him a 10 second car.
Do you really wanna go through all that trouble??

Re: side effects of running a shot of NOS (Sprayin')
I didnt beleive it at first either, but my buddy ran a 1.5l non vtec (i beleive it was a d16z6 bottom with d15b2 or b7 head--could be wrong) with 200+ shot in his eg hatch. It held up fine and ran 12.3 (?) These are the words from his mouth, so I cant say its the truth.
FYI...he drilled the injector of his venom kit. So he doesnt know the exact amount sprayed.
