Default Si a v-tec ?

Forgive the stupid question, however I was always pretty sure that all Si's were vtec.
My 1997's valve cover does't say vtec so some believe it is not.

Can anybody help with this debate.

Canadian Si is our EX, right? Check his block or timing belt cover for the engine code "D16Y8." This engine has vtec. Also there is a solenoid with a cylinder like thing between the engine and throttle body, a little north of the distributor.
