Default SI-SI HArness-vx MOTOR--p07 or p28?*RESEARchED**

ok so i recently pickd up an eg si for my brother, it came with a vx motor, a 4 wire o2 and harness, i was like cool. little did i know the vx runs the wideband o2.

so after countless research i have some ppl saying run the p28 and 4 wire ive done it, or im doing it right now...no problems.

and then i got some saying get the 5 wire and run the p07.

ok well i got both ecus. so give me some insight...

on the p28 and a 4 wire o2 i get CEL #1 wires are all matched up according to charts. what to look at next??
(for those who have successully done it)

and on the p07 would any of these o2 sensors work?

1.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

2.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

and since i have the si harness(no egr clip) how would i wire up the 5 wire
with the p07???

would the blox o2 sensor eliminator help my situation at all??

im trying to make my bros car running, decent dont care if its rich just trying to get it CEL'less...

thanks

Good questions cuz I'm in the same boat! Got a '95 Ex w/ a VX head & motor. I ran the car with the 240cc injectors & a P28 and got 230-240 miles per tank. I also had the CEL 41 with the P28.

Okay, so logically I thought...the VX came with 190s and used the P07, so I had both and threw them in there. The gas mileage hasn't increased and even w/ the P07 I still have a CEL 41.

Can I assume that a 5-wire would get rid of the CEL? and how would I wire it up?

CEL 41 will give you poor mpg, especially with the VX.

VX = 35mpg in town, 40+ highway. I've been there and I'm sort of looking for another one.

the P28/4-wire combo will work, but it will run like crap. (see poor power, mpg will be ok-ish)
the P07/5-wire combo will run the engine properly and you will pull some shocking between fill up mileage. (350-400 in town with light right foot)

CEL#1 means your O2 signal is not hitting D14 correctly, it could be the O2's ground and it could be the O2 signal to the ECU. (could be a bad sensor also)
Honestly pretty much any CEL with the P07 is going to make it pull poorer mpg figures. It's heavily reliant on the O2.

Neither of the widebands will work with the P07.
search for a L1H1 from NGK.

To run the P07, you'll have to add the wires for the 5-wire and EGR setup, as well as locate the EGR controller that mounts to the firewall. (can be found cheap from people with VX's that are swapping them)

the blox simulator is an overpriced secondary O2 only device. Which will do nothing for the P07.

You may want to pick up a cheap B&M strap on adjustable FPR and gauge for it, then pull the pressure down ~4-5psi. This should help with the mpg and give you slightly more power. (compensating for the 1.5L to 1.6L switch)

if you'd like even better power and mpg search for a P07-L01 or P07-L02. (stay clear of the A00, A01 and L00)
The L01(93) and L02(94-95) are from the cali version of the VX. They use a four wire O2 and no EGR. but they are rare to find.

the 5-wire O2s (L1H1) run in the 100-150 range. I've seen them as much as 250, but I wouldn't pay anything more than 125 personally.

Yes! very helpful Relic1! So you say to remedy the poor fuel mileage is to find a 5-wire, wire it up properly, and get a FPR to adjust down the pressure (even though I'm using 190s?).

Will the Helms manual be all that I need to help me wire up the 5-wire and the EGR valve wiring?

Thx a bunch!

the 190s on a P28 will be too little fuel. WOT will be very lean.
190s with a P07 will be perfect.

yes the Helms will give you all you need to wire up the VX specific items. But make sure you get the ETM not just the service manual.
