Default The Si MPEGs are back (finally!)

It took some doing, but we finally got the MPEGs on a T1. Some new ones are on the way too, including more tray sliding and auto-x. Here is the link. Enjoy!

Never seen "mats" under the wheels before. Whatever they are they work.

We started with fast food trays (which worked but didn't last long) then tried cookie sheets (which didn't work at all). The ones in the videos are the big grated plastic trays that the bakeries and restaurants use, and they work great. What started out as "practicing drifts and slides" quickly became tearing around like lunatics. There are even dedicated sites popping up for tray sliding, which is pretty bizarre. "FF Drifting" I call it.

Yeah he got a little carried away. LOL It's actually part of the "storyline" for the Dragon's Tail DVD we did. Didn't hurt the car though (thank god).

Basically you just put trays under the rear wheels and pull the e-brake. You can do it without the trays, but you'll just end up tearing up the e-brake. Plus you can slide the rear end around much easier with the trays. It's actually much easier to control the car than you might think -- plus we practiced a lot before rolling the camera. We've never had any damage to anybody's car (or property for that matter). It's about as close to drifting as you can get in a FF car IMO. And it's pretty damn entertaining too!

Check out my friend's site, http://www.traysliding.com (sorry, had to put in a shameless plug lol). Basically all you need is an open area, 2 trays and your car. Have fun.

This would be so much easier if our cars were rear wheel drive. Oh well, I guess we have to make due.

The TSI site is pretty cool, just don't foget who came up with the idea (and coined the phrase too).

BTW you don't have to do it in the rain, but we highly recommend it. When it's dry the trays don't last very long (maybe 30 seconds), plus it makes a god-awful racket that can attract unwanted attention.

Yeah we all still cringe every time we watch that clip. If they weren't late for the friggin' bikini contest maybe they could have done more than one take! BTW I saw that same guy do a segment about a lowrider. Hilarious! He didn't know what the hell he was talking about.
