Si guys want 200whp NA B16a? serious intrest only.
Peep this.
Omniman > engine builder/tuner credited for inventing LSVTEC. I dont know his whole history and dont claim to, seems to be a super nice guy. Rocket here on HT has a website to push some of the products he sells and manufactures
called EF-1. If there ever was a guy(s) in this game that try to truly do it right
it is Rocket and definately Steve. Steve (Omniman) wants to begin this project
you can see how it is in its embryo stage now here:
http://ef-1.zeroforum.com/zerothread?id=171 (reposted link and operational as of 4:10EST)
they are looking for a doner car and someone to pony up some funds. The contact info is there for those truly interested. This project is the kind of project that can attract alot of attention and will definately (when completed) change alot of minds about the way hondas are tuned and parts are bought.
Give it a look,
Mike
any questions, please feel free to PM

That **** sounds cool. I'd really like to see Omniman accomplish this. I know there has to be someone that has a 99si+ somewhere around here.
to struggle and progress.

sounds really interesting. i wish i had an si. anyways, i was intrigued by this and did a quick google search and found this http://www.ghettoracer.com/b16a-index.html. i could be wrong and this site could be totally missleading, but it looks like it has already been done, and by him nonetheless. anyways, i am still very interested in this project. i think its great when guys from different sides of the industry collaborate to do great things.

Interesting..... The fact that he ideally wants a 99 Civic Si makes it hard. That is one expensive car to buy used. I can't think why would someone donate a nearly 99 stock civic Si to the cause.
now, if he was looking for a 1992- up civic body with a 99 b16a swap, I am sure someone would be willing to do it because a shell goes for 2-3K and a b16 swap goes for another 2-3K.

hey man, your guess is as good as mine: however this is my guess;
the implications of a nearly stock Si with this kind of motor with stock
compression that can live on the street is huge. most people understand
that swaps are meant to be fast. this car would be a total sleeper, not
to mention be "presentable" to the onlookers from the more biased
perspective: "I buy new, wish I knew" vs "I buy this and make it
what I want it to be on my own" the second group which is most of
US can accept that there are things that can be done to that motor
and put it in ANY car that accepts it. conversely, the opposite type of
owner wouldnt even consider touching his shiny new Acura. "I paid my
money, therefore the pros should work on my car" and for performance:
"If I cant buy it at the dealership or from aftermarket companies of
good status, then it isnt good." basically, this causes a whole stigma
in this industry and it is both good and bad. one of the side effects are
kids spending every dollar they make on mods that do dick for performance
altering an already efficient system to make it ineffective for bling factor.
most people slap and dont tune or consider a project for end result from the
beginning. this in my view will help to re-focus the dollars spent toward tuning
and actual system planning, hence OEM Honda... look what it can do with this...
tuning... planning... machine work... and as little aftermarket parts as possible...
its the ultimate bragging tool. the only losers are the ones whos parts arent used.
honda engineers can sit back and smile and say:
"I knew it could do that, no problem. They just wouldnt let me build it that way"

Good luck to Omniman with this venture, I'm SURE it can be done, but I doubt it would give me the powerband I'm looking for in a car. So I'm not offereing up my car to be the guinea pig.

no doubt a B16 with 200whp will be a peak power motor. however, compared to
your stock B16... this is essentially a demonstration of power so people know it
can be done. who knows what can happen, Steve has a list of credentials that
sit me back a few more inches in my chair and cause me to think... I bet he can
extract good drivability as well... someone with a sense of adventure and
attitude toward the project is just as important as the car.

Here is what Steve, Omniman made with a b16 short block:
That is almost 190 hp for the dyno impared...

if someone wants to fork out all the cash, i'd happily donate my car. stock 99 Si with 91k miles on the motor.
