Default Si guage cluster in DX hatch

alright, so im planning on buying my friend's DX hatch from him. he had a SI guage cluster put in but when he did it he kind of messed up the speedo and it is now off by about 5mph. is there anyway to fix this? im really **** and it would bug the hell out of me if its not fixable.

its not in the wiring.....

has the wheel size been changed? mostly it has, its no longer the stock 13 or 14 inch wheels... therefore that changes the speedometer reading. either go back to stock wheels or deal with the speedo being slightly off. its not 100% accurate anyway. virgin or not.

what? that didnt even answer my question...im fully aware that overall tire diameter affects the speedo. its rolling on LS mesh wheels with correctly sized tires. we know its the guage cluster reading inaccurate because

1) while driving his car, i felt like i was going slower then what was read on the guage and made a comment about it. and he told me the guage is inaccurate

2)after he installed the guage, the speedo needle would rest at like 5-10mph at a dead stop. he re-did some stuff and it rested at 0 but still was off.he figured this out because he remembered in 5th gear what RPMs he would be at while at a certain speed, and it wasnt the same as before.

Try this...

1. Pop off the clear cover and have the cluster plugged in.
2. Remove the speedometer needle.
3. Start the car.
4. Place back the needle at the stop pin.
5. Test the speedometer.

see now that would have been useful information to begin with... you ask vaguely, then i answered the best i knew. kind of hard to help with no background information...

sorry, that was my bad. i just assumed this might be a common problem since Si clusters swaps are pretty common.
