Default Should this quiet my car down?

Here's the exhaust setup currently:

2.5'' High Flow Cat
2.5'' Crushbent Piping
2.5'' Thermal Straight Thru Muffler

The car gets pretty loud. Higher RPM...gets pretty damn raspy and low rpm it's a lower tone..but still quite loud.

So I'm thinking...what if I put a stock..say...gsr or si muffler? That should quiet it considerably right? I know top end will suffer..but when I go to tracks...I'll probably run open header...or do some exhaust cutout part.

Main reason I wanna do this is cops in CA are pretty ****. The car itself looks stock...but the sound would give it off. And if they pull me over for the exhaust..i know the hood will be popped open also. Then the engine swap with no BAR certification, no CARB EO#s, blah blah blah...it'll just be a hassle.

So you guys think the muffler would do the trick? Or maybe just a resonator?

doesn't thermal offer a "silent" or whatever modification to any exisisting exhaust if u send it back to them? you may want to ask the Forced induction crew since many of them run thermal exhaust.. but I would switch to either a ITR or CTR exhaust both are basically 2 1/4... or order an older RSR series from Turboimports..but your car is TURBO correct since u are running a 2.5 all the way.. if not just switch it over to a GSR if u can't find anything else...I currently run 2 1/4 cat.. 2 1/4 piping mandrel to a stock dx exhaust I so hate it so I'm getting a ctr stock muffler to bolt up

then why the 2.5 If you went with a 2 1/4" you would drop sound and gain more needed back pressure 2.5 is kinda big for all motor

I have an Apexi worldsport . It's very quiet and will give you a little better performance than a si or gsr exhaust.

maybe sticking a resonator somewhere in there would help cut back on your sound problems.

obviously he lied to you...

i'm running a jdm ITR header, carsound high flow-cat, 18" resonator, 2.25 custom piping and a 00 civic si muffler. its quiet, looks stock, sounds sorta like stock, my intake is louder that it. i'd rather loose a little bit top end than get a ticket for modified exhaust. IMO

wassup Rod, its joseph, get an ITR muffler and a resonator

just get a es or dynomax and paint it flat black
or you could just leave it the way it comes... the es still has that "stock" look

Hey wussup Joseph. Dude...I would get an ITR muffler but they're hard to find and overpriced.

I don't wanna get an ES Oval simply because it'll still be loud. Straight thru muffler...same as the one i have now. Yea I know...the ES looks stock..but mine doesn't look flashy either. I had a 2.5'' tip welded on...so it looks like a puny muffler.

I guess I can try getting a long resonator...hopefully it'll work...I'll just be pissed if it doesn't. Will have to pay twice. Here's the exhaust cutout i wanna get:

Whatcha guys think?

resonators and glasspacks help to quiet things down.
