Should I Replace my Fuel Tank?
Hey,
Whilte under the car this weekend I got a chance to overlook my fuel tank briefly. It looks pretty crappy as it is 13 years old. It's bolted in place fine and I'm sure it'll hold up for another 5 years but it got me thinking as to what the inside of it looks like. Could there be old gas buildups or other bad stuff that would clog the fuel lines and decrease flow?
It is worthwhile to replace the stock fuel tank off a 92 DX hatch. If so, should I look for an oem one or is there an aftermarket brand I should look out for?
Thanks,
George

Umm.. I wouldn't want to because I am lazy but couldn't you remove the fuel pump, get a flashlight and look around inside the tank?

Re: Should I Replace my Fuel Tank? (litterbox)
I had mine replaced with a new oem one from honda about 2 years ago cause a dumbass thought it would be ok to put a screw in it.
Since replacing i've only used chevron 89 for a couple month and then 92+ ever since. I'm sure there's no sludge build up in mine.
I think it was between $300-400 for them to install it. Can't remember the exact price. It's easy to do but i was too lazy so i had them do it.
Should of seen the face the guy at the parts desk made when i went up to him and asked for a gas tank. It was classic. LOL I wished i had a camera.

you really only need to replace it if your fuel filter is getting plugged up or the car has been sitting for a few years with gas inside it.
