should i mill?????
im gonna be bringing my z6 head to a local machine shop to get hot tanked soon, and i was wondering if it would be worth it to get it mildly milled (.020 or something) while its at the machine shop. ive heard that milling retards cam timing. if so, how much of a retard would something like taking .020 off create. any help/info is appreciated.

well, not only does getting your head milled up the compression but it also ensures the head is flat. timing shouldnt be a big issue.

resurfacing makes the head flat, if you mill too much (which doesn't take too much) you will have timing issues

Re: should i mill????? (blackeg)
back up again for another dumb question on this issue- i visited a compression calc website and concluded that milling .020 of an inch should raise my compression to around 9.6:1, which is cool in my book, but im also gonna be running a 50 shot wet on this motor. is the mill gonna be bad for runnin the juice on this???

if your only gonna run a 50 shot then no.... the compression is still ok to run and its a good idea to get the head milled when puttin it back on the block in order to maintain a good seal with the headgasket

why? Welding the chambers cost big bucks... they have the have the cc's pirfect in each cylinder and invalves a lot more work ($) to do for almost the same effect.
That 1.5-2.5 degree retard is cam timing which would bump your topend up while also increasing compression. It also gives you a true and flat surface to make a better seal w/ the head gasket.
.020 mill is good. Just dont go any more then that or crazy with it. Too much and you would have problems if you upgrade to a big cam in the future.
**this is just my thoughts on this, others may think different but this is me. Just do what you think is best and ask for the advice from the machine shop also**

A higher compression takes ot nitrous better anyways. That is why the big boys have slugs and spray just tune and you will be good.
