Should I micropolish the crank?
Well I want to rebuild the B18c1 engine. Its not like the engine spun a bearing. But my question is: Is it neccesary to do a micropolish on the crank even if it doesnt need it? I mean all the journals doesnt seem to be scorn or has scratches on it. If i dont get it micropolish I can just go to Acura and buy the right color bearings for them without worrying about the specs and such.

you dont need to, but what you do need to do is plastigauge every bearing to make sure you have the correct oil clearances on the new bearings

Re: Should I micropolish the crank?
plastigauge the "one size fit all" bearings. But Im talking about OEM Color bearings. I dont think i need to plastigauge them because they are according to the number on the block and the crank? dont get me wrong, it doesnt hurt to plastigauge them.

Mircopolish the crank. It will make the journals like new. Even though you cant see it there could be issues. Your doing all this work to rebuild why not just do this as well?

dont gauge em.. but when you do it and your motor doesnt turn or your bearings seize up cause you have to little or to big of an oil clearance dont come runnin back saying i should have done it.. it costs about 50 cents to get a strip of plastigauge and the only thing you do is torque down the caps and un torque them take the reading and adjust accordingly saves you time and money in the long run cause if you gotta get an over or undersized bearing theres your money saving right there instead of putting it togeather and finding the problem later .. and theres your time being saved..
but dont do it cause its color bearings
and there oem bearings for oem cranks and oem rods not for worn cranks and rods.. its the ware that you gotta plastigauge.. the only thing plastigauge does is save your *** so why not do it

Re: Should I micropolish the crank?
well my real question is how would i know what bearings to buy after i micropolish them. someone once told me that just get the ACL Greens and plastiguage them and the ones that falls out of specs just replace those with OEM ones? Is this true?
