Should I clean my newly bought springs?

Should I clean my newly bought springs?
I just bought some used 99 ITR factory springs for my EK civic.
I cleaned off the dirt/dust, but there is still a thin coat of black tar (from undercoating) left on part of all 4 springs. Should I clean all this off with Tar Remover cleaner or should I leave this tar on the springs before I goto a shop to install them on my stock shocks?
It feels dirty and sticky from holding the springs now, but would the coat of tar be better left on so rocks won't chip the black paint of the ITR springs when I use them?
Here is a picture I found here of what ITR springs look like(when it is all cleaned):

Re: Should I clean my newly bought springs? (HapiCivic)
I clean anything on my car.
Even the under body when it needs it.
I like my car to be so clean, I can work on it without gloves and still not get dirty.
Not really a neat freak, just like my car clean.

I don't get it.
I might as well just clean off all the tar from the springs, since all aftermarket springs are nice and SHINY
