short shifters - no search results. . .
I did a search on this but didn't come up with anything
which ones are best?
whats the diff between 100$ shifter and a 50$ shifter or an ebay 10$ shifter
building the car for autocross - is there a favored shifter for this?

If it helps i had a no name shifter when i had my d-series, and now that i have a swap im keepin the integra shifter, it was nice i guess for "racing" but it was too notchy for me i like the feel of stock shifters. so to answer that's my opinion the cheap ones feel notchy never had an expensive one or felt one.

Re: (screech)
thanks guys - I definately dont want to snap the shifter because its also my daily driver - the wife would kill me - but also i just dont see spending 100 bucks on a something like that - i had a matrix shifter in my last 93 ex and just loosened the bolt on the bottom of the shifter alittle and it was almost as smooth as stock - but i dont know how good of quality it was because i never "raced" it. . . .

Re: (MrEG)
You can fit an Integra shifter into a Civic with a few minutes of modification to the bottom of the shifter...it's shorter than stock and feels great. That's what I have and I love it.

Skunk2 all the way. Get the shifter and the ****. Your shifting will be so much better. 98ctr
The diff. is in the material and quallity of the shifter. The heavier the shifter/shifter **** the easyer it will be to shift into gears and the less chance of missing shifts. 98ctr

I didn't know $165 for a shifter and shifter **** was cheap. We all don't make $20 an hour.
B&M Short Throw for $50 shipped. Mated to Energy Suspension shifter bushings, VERY crisp and tight shifts. Definitely shorter aswell.

Indeed. Really heavy construction. Looks very solid. I'm using the stock shift ****, but will get a better one soon. It's a straight-shaft design so 1, 3 and 5th are a bit forward. But 2, 4, and Reverse are nice. 2, 4, and R seem as if they are in Neutral. Love the feel of it.

I have semi-cheap short shifter in my dx coupe. It cost about $40. It feels a lot better than stock and shortened the throw a lot. I would go with a good shifter but wouldnt throw a lot into it unless it is something you are really interested in.

Re: (Happyman)
I've had both a Skunk2 and now an Edlebrock.
Skunk2 = nice and crisp, and a tad bit shorter (height wise) then stock.
Edelbrock = Very short in both aspects, weird angle that makes 5th look like 3rd, but I'm still getting used to this one.
I'll sell you my skunk2 for 50 plus shipping

The ones i like the best are B&M.
I bouth a B&M short throw shifter for my crx and it's easy to install it reduced 54% in shift travel.
