is it better to get the whole short shifter kit or just the shifter itself. which brand to name a few neuspeed or dc or skunk2 i know these are just a few of the brands but which brand do you have and or like, and which gives the best proformace and feel or is that based on the individual preference.

um i beleve those are two diffrent things..... liek the neuspeed short shifter kit that has those rod things that connect and make your shifter tighter, and a short shifter is the shifter it's self just smaller for less shifting throw and distance

the shifter kits are for accords and preludes which have cables to control the tranny so its basically an adaptor that shortens the throw by getting in between the rod and the shifter.

a short shifter is basically the lever itself since civics/integras use rods and the shift is controlled from a pivot point. so a short shift lever will make that pivot point longer so less motion is required to go in gear.

i recommend skunk2 or B&M, neuspeed and DC make kits not shifters.

If you've got a Del Sol, don't bother buying a short-throw shifter. The Del Sol pretty much came stock with one. :D

i would just get the short shifter. it just makes your throw a lot shorter making it harder for you to miss a gear. not the answer of missing gears but helps a lot. i would also get a nice heavy shift **** as well. good luck.

it is more an individual thing there.......many people love their short shifters....others hate them, i personnally have an ebay generic shift lever with real good bearings and the feel is super smooth and real tight.....most people think it is brand name shifter because it feels so good....

I had a DC short shifter, it was cool for a while but then i noticed that it was getting harder and harder to find the gears. So i took it out, put on my stock one and sold it. Instead I got some urethane shifter bushings from Energy Suspension and threw it on. Best 15 bucks I ever spent. My stock shifter feels better than the short shifter now. It feels like it snaps into every gear with precision. Well thats my experience with short shifters. But hey i dont know anyone who has a short shifter and the bushings, maybe thats even better, who knows?

ebay shifter in the house i dunno it depends on how much money u wanna spend mine felt fine and my friends skunk 2 felt the same depends on you

b&m in my hatch, not complaints besides the slight rattle but i hear thats normal, no biggie.

whatever u do dont get generic no name brand short shifter..that **** sucks.fuken broke in half when i shifted. well i also snap in DC sports one. get a skunk2

ive had experience with the B&M, generic , and Skunk2 short shifters. B&M had the shortest throw, however, its too tight for me. Generic is just plain ghetto, it broke in half while speed shifting. The Skunk2 short shifter was the best overall feel, however, i prefer a type r shift linkage/shifter coupled with an energy suspension bushing.

Nope. I have a B&M w/ES inserts and the shifts are much shorter and more precise, and still smooth as stock. I like it MUCH better than the stock shifter.

Sol shifters do have a shorter throw than regular d series civics...and it fits on any 92-00 civic (d motors only).

I wouldnt waste your time on an ebay shifter although they feel fine they will break over time. Everyone I know whos bought one they have ended up breaking. Mine broke and now I am going to a stock integra shifter with nuespeed bushings, and type r linkage. Hopefully Ill like it if not Im going to go with the skunk2 heard nothing but good comments on it.

personally i don't reccommend short shifter since you will be risking to shift to the wrong gear someday and it can do harm to your motor if it is in the red line range

any shifter you can do stupid things like that...

if you miss shift its the drivers fault not the short shifter or shifter....

its basically drive normally until you are comfortable with your new set up...
