short shifter questions
So I have been thinking of getting a shift **** for my 97 civic lx. Obviously 5spd. And with all the shifters i've found on the internet, the choices are almost endless. Defintly wanted to stay away from the ebay shifters, unless its a quality brand just being sold on ebay... then fine. But i'm referring to the no name ebay stuff, we all know about. So anyway, what brand would you choose, or which do you currently have , or have had in past cars. I was thinking maybe B&M, maybe Skunk2, etc. Also I have heard with short shifters some will make the gears grind, and such. So maybe if someone could also squash some myths, and give some FACTS that would be great too. And as always if there is already a thread like this (which I have searched for and could not find, and have also seen the "FAQ" section on the short shifter installs which give some info that I was looking for but just not enough) please refer me to the thread with a link, and keep the wise a** comments to yourself. Thank you in advance and helping a noob is always greatly appreciated. "Each one teach one!"

Re: short shifter questions
I don't think you're going to have any issues grinding gears unless you shift like an ******* everytime you drive. I have a B&M dual bend on my 98 civic, no problems, I like it a lot. The only thing to watch out for is occasionally it can rattle a bit, just make sure you have nice quality bushings and have it all tightened up, and that the ball end isn't rubbing on the exhaust or anything.

yeah, its not the short shifter, its the one doing the shifting from my point of view.
currently im hung up on a buddy club short shifter, or skunk2 short shifter... I can't seem to find good reviews.

Running an Ebay ss for 2 years with no issues. Will eventually get an aftermarket one but that's low on the priority list right now (boost first).
Agreed if you like "slammin'" your shifter and generally treat your ride like crap you'll eventually break something.

i'd get the b&m because it's a great shifter (i have a dual bend in my 92) and because they're only like 50 bucks too. if you get the shifter i'd seriously consider getting a energy suspension shifter bushing kit as well. that combination gives you great feeling, solid shifts every time

The TWM performance shifters are sick. I've had one for 4 years and it's litterally flawless
