Short Shifter in my 2000 EM1
Hello all,
I recently installed a short shifter (skunk dual bend) in my 2000 si. I noticed that when you move the stick from left to right in neutral you hear a sqeaking sound (kinda like a sqeaky bed when u are uh well you know...)
I checked to make sure I'm not hitting the exhaust shield and it looks fine. I believe the noise is coming from where the shift linkage connects to the transmission.
I made sure I didn't overtighten the bolt that attaches the stick shift to the shifter assembly.
Do I need to lubricate the linkage assembly somewhere? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Re: Short Shifter in my 2000 EM1 (melsers)
I did lube the ball with white lithium grease.
One thing that I want to add is that when driving I'm getting vibration out of the shifter. My shifts are smooth and it's definately a lot shorter throw than the stock shifter but the vibration and the noise is really bothering me.
I took it all apart after the install to make sure everything was lined up correctly and tight (again not overtight but tight) and it all seems ok.
Thanks for your reply...

Not skunk2's fault. Just not lubed enough

I too have the skunk2 daul bend but my problem is the part that holds the ball into place the bolts will not untighen, had my buddy watch the top and the flat part that is suppose to be welded isn't it just spins. Is there anyway else to get this removed?
