Short ram intake question
I'm looking at getting a short ram intake for my civic. Its a really odd conbo, but I like the mileage I get from this setup. I have a 2000 si with an ex transmission and block and a 1998 hx head and intake. I also put a Greddy evo2 catback, high flow cat and an ex header on it. The last tank of gas I got an average of 45.3 mpg. That was with about 150 miles driving 70-75 on the interstate and half the mileage in town.
Anyway, I am looking at getting a short ram intake and am wondering what the difference is between the models. Sometimes I find them listed as an si\ex, lx\dx\hx and sometimes see ex\hx. Will an si\ex work on my hx intake? Are the intake sizes different on an si, ex, lx, dx and hx? I've sent emails to some of the guys and asked if they fit an hx, and the only response I get is it fits what is listed.
here's some examples:

Re: Short ram intake question (2DoorBandit)
The Si/EX/EX intake manifolds are generally the same style with the TB pointing to the side. As apposed to the LX/DX manifolds that have the TB pointing up.
When I got an intake for my HX, I got a cheap one that was labeled for an Si/EX. I think one of the problems with buying cheap stuff on Ebay and other websites, is that sometimes the seller doesn't really know a lot of details of the products they're selling.
Also, that first intake you posted looks like a cold air intake.

I realize the cheap ebay one is the way to go, then get a good K&N filter and call it good, but I'm really wondering about what model to get when I see the hx model is sometimes the same as the ex and not the si, while the ex and si are sometimes the same.

Re: Short ram intake question (civic stud)
yeah most ebay sellers dont really know what they are selling....but just make sure the intake you get has a hole for the MAF sensor to go into....the dx/lx intakes wont have that...and hell yeah.... i got d16y5 hx motor and im getting about 42 in mixed driving
