short in ignition system, electrical help needed.
this technically isn't honda tech...but it's got me stumped. my cousin has a 95 ford escort hatch and today when he started it, the starter stayed on and grinded until he turned the car off and took the key out. at which point, the car tried to start again on it's own....without the key. i imagine there's a short somewhere consistent with the ignition wires used in "hot wiring" a car. this is simply my assumption and if anyone can give me some direction i would appreciate it greatly. i'm not looking for a definitive answer, as i realize this is not a ford escort forum, but i figure it's electrical and semi-universal. TIA

check the stater solenoid. 1st check the starter wire that comes from the key switch to see if it has 12v on it while this is happening. if so the key switch is culprit. if not the starter solenoid is culprit. hope this helps.
