Default Shopping for a new aftermarket distributor for 93 Civic VX

OEM distributors for the VX are discontinued so I have to buy aftermarket. There are a lot on different parts websites but most of them have little to no reviews. Anyone here have experience with aftermarket distributors?

If you have the old Honda VX distributor, then rebuild it.

How can I tell if I have the original distributor? I'm pretty sure it's been replaced.

Multi-angle pics would help.

Based on eghatch's comments, you can use a z6 distributor internals to rebuild it, if it's the original.

to my knowledge, the only 92-00 d series with a truly unique distributor is the d16y5.

I'd rather just get a new dizzy. Are there any good guides on how to rebuild? I could do it if it's not too hard. Also what would be the price difference between rebuild and buying new?

if you have the tools to work with the bearing and seal, the rest is very easy to do.
price difference: less than half.

Honda distributors are far more superior with respect to function and reliability.

If I might inquire, what tools are required for the bearing and seal if you are rebuilding these things?

I am guessing at least a seal puller, but I thought the replacement bearings were unknown p/n's...

The bearing is the easy part. I don't have it handy, but it's made by Nachi and I have bought them before. It's the seal that's more challenging to find.

The distributor oil seal is available from local auto parts stores, and also on Amazon...

Does it happen to be the same bearing for a b series, specifically a b16a distributor, if so can you share the part #

I believe so. To verify on Amazon, entire year, make, model, and trim of Honda car for which the distributor was originally designed.

Edit: I just verified that the distributor seal also fits the B16a2 distributor on the 2000 Civic Si.

It appears FBJ Bearings are a quality product.
FBJ Bearings for Industrial Sector

FBJ has produced many standard and specialised types of ball and roller bearings under Japan Industrial Standard (JIS) and International Standardlization Organisation (ISO).

It looks like they have been an OEM supplier for a few industries.
