Shifter rattle? (searched) (all stock parts)
97 LX 5spd. bone stock except for an axle-back grapefruit shooter with the silencer permanently installed. Also all of the search results I saw had to do with short shifters or exhaust interference so here's my question:
When cruising at light to medium throttle in 3rd or 5th gear I get a stupid rattle in my shifter assembly. Whilst under the car the other day I inspected my shift linkage and I think I know where the problem is but I'm not sure how to fix it. I traced the rattle to one of the two joints right behind to the legendary 'bitch pin'. The joint has a grease fitting on it but I didn't have a grease gun with me to try that as a solution. So I ask you folks, the gurus, what can be done about this issue? Is it just a matter of the joint being dry of grease or can these joints be serviced with bushings or the like?
thanks in advance!
