Default Shifter Linkage

Hey guys, I did a quick search. But didn't find quite what I was looking for.
D16 motor and trans. Shifter linkage from junk yard was just cut off right before the trans. But before the Pin around the boot. I've tried a punch to remove the pin. But no luck. Would heating it help? If there's a way better way than how im attacking this, please help. The new motor's in, everything is good.. just need to hook up the shifter linkage. Should have prepped it before.. but live and learn.

Thanks

PB blaster or liquid wrench

soak the **** out of it.. heat only would make everything expand

Should I heat it, apply the lubricant and wait for it to cool?; while the metal cools the blaster might soak around the pin? It's driving me nuts... just a motor in my garage with a shifter linkage causing me a head ache .. the last thing I expected.

i wouldn't heat it up at all, it's striking me as a terrible idea.

just spray it and let it soak for 10 minutes, and keep it soaked.

if it was sitting in a junk yard it probably needs a good cleaning

or just get a new shift linkage in one piece?

check it out. get the pin from the shift linkage and a bolt of the same size. grind down the thread part of the bold until it forms a "tip" with a flat round bottom that seats the bolt

.....H____________ V-- sits inside the shift linkage pin
..HHH__/_/_/_/___|==
......H ^.............. ^
...........thread........ground down part

something like that.... then put the pin in place, start to hammer it in with this new tool you just made, might have to hold it with a set of plyers but it should work and has for me a bunch of times. some wd-40 or any penetrating lube couldnt hurt either but i just bang it out with a hammer and that tool

What I've done is managed to remove the shifter linkage off of the pulled motor; I had enough room to really hit the punch with my hammer. Now the only problem remains under the car: Pin is half out.. but I done brok'd ma punch. So I'll be doing it tomorrow. I ******* hate this pin.

Thanks for the help.
