Shifter issue....need professional opinion
this is for a 96 civic DX....d16y7 engine/tranny, all stock
i have a problem. the shifter flops around like crazy left and right, even when in gear, but goes into each gear fine. it seems like the invisible 1-2-3-4-5-R gate is missing (if you dont know what im talking about, look at a lambo shifter gate>>>http://image.importtuner.com/f/edito...shift-gate.jpg. i ordered a bushing kit from energy suspension thinking it was that, but now that i get under the car i see it is clearly not. is the problem inside the tranny? or do i need a new shifter assembly? thanks all. there is a third possibility, i got the wrong kit. but i doubt that. its the 3 piece kit from energy
thanks all

you guys might want to make sure that the shifter ball isnt worn. and also replace the SEAT(bushing), CHANGE LEVER BALL (part# 22868).
i had this problem with my em1 shift linkage. replaced the bushings w/ energy poly's and replaced the bitch pin and still had the problem. i pulled the lever and realized that my shift lever ball had worn excessively. i replaced w. a s2 lever and put in a new ball seat/bushing and it solved the problem. goodluck!
