Default Shifter Bushings

I just got a B&M short shifter for my d16y8 sol, I was wondering if I should go ahead and get new shifter bushings from energy suspension.

They're not expensive at all, I just wondered if anyone has had any experience with them since I'm not sure what upgrading the bushings would do and if it would be worth it. Thanks!

they're only 20 bucks shipped...I am debating because I might as well change them while I have it all apart...my shifter now doesn't feel loose or anything close so I bet the bushings are still good....anyone else?

I have one, and it helped a little, shifts feel less spongy

My friend got a generic poly shifter bushing set. In my opinion it feels too notchy now. It's also kind of loud...I guess some people like it being really stiff/notchy, and the 'click click' sound when you're shifting, but when I drive a car like that it makes me think something is wrong with the transmission.

I like it silky smooth instead of 'clickity clickity'

i dont get a "click" sound when shifting...but with my neuspeed bushings and skunk 2 ss, i feel like i get more solid shifts. you can feel it engage, there is a slight rattle that you hear everyonce and a while.

over all i would get them again with out a doubt.

I have them, and really like them. They take alot of the "slop" out of the shifter. Much tighter.

definitely a must-have for a short-shifter. i noticed a difference-- it seems somewhat smoother when shifting in between gears.

Ive got the bushings and it does make a big difference. My shifter does make the click sound. A must for a short shifter plus there is vary little play. For a 20 i say why not give it a try for your self.

I have the Energy Suspension shifter bushings with a DC Sports short shifter. I really like the feel of the shifter now as opposed to the stock one I had.

I have a short shifter cut about 2 inches lower and urethane bushings. That thing is super tight and definitely took some getting used to. Much better than the footlong throws of the stock Si shifter.

I've got Prothane Bushings for mine, but with no short shifter... it feels amazing, I definately recommend them.

Same here. I run the stock shifter with Prothane bushings. Only cost me $13 from a local shop. (Read EkREV's sig. ) I ditched my DC Sports short shifter for this setup, and I like it much better. Without the bushings, stock felt very imprecise and sloppy. With the Prothane bushings installed, shifting action is much more positive, precise, and firm. I absolutely love it. And you can't beat it for the price. It is a little notchy, but it's a definite improvement over stock.

shifter bushings are worth the $20. i like how all my shifts feel nice and crisp. while you're at it, get the motor mount inserts too.
