Shift seem hard when putting in 1st gear
I have 99 civic 5sp and when car is at complete stop and I try to put in 1st gear shift feels really hard. When car is running I slow down less then 10 MPH and try to put in 1st gear it seems like its locking so I have to put in 2nd gear.
Do you guys know what might be the problem.

Re: Shift seem hard when putting in 1st gear
Make sure the clutch is working properly. Make sure the shift arms aren't bent and then inspect the shifter bushing. If those and their mounts & connections are ok then it's an internal transmission problem and the tranny should be rebuilt or replaced.
On a side note, it's usually very hard on the tranny to downshift into first gear without stopping or slowing to a crawl. Avoid doing so when the car can accelerate from second.
