shaved head question..
I have a D16y8 head that has been shaved...I bought it like that and I'm not sure exactly how much it has been shaved my two questions are what the stock deck height of the d16y8 is and how much is safe to shave off the head????
I'm thinking of getting it shaved more if thats possible I just don't know how much to shave it and how much is too much???
any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!!

Re: shaved head question..
There are tabs on the under-side of the head that indicated how much is left on the head.
Usually int he corners of the head. Or wether or not you can go any further that is. As far as how much has already come off, I don't know.

I wouldn't go past .075. You don't want to have to run race gas all the time do you? After about 12.5:1 you have to start thinking about detonation.

Re: shaved head question..
I milled a head .030 for just a little bump in compression. I wouldn't go further than that, really, and though you can technically go more, I'd agree with ^ and .075 is about as much as you want to go.
There are little circles cast into the underside of the head, near the corners. You'll see the shiny, milled surface that mates to the head gasket, there will be a C shape in that, and in the middle there will be a little circle that is cast in. It's hard to describe. That's your limit; beyond that you will be in danger of warping the head. I'll try to get a picture.
In any case, you need an adjustable cam gear. You'll be moving the cams closer to the crank, and that will affect your timing. You'll need to adjust it back a little bit or your car will run like a dog.

You can see the limit casting on the lower left corner of the head in this picture. It's just below the dowel pin. You cannot mill it any more than that.
