Shaking/vibrating car
Ok guys, my car shakes and vibrates really bad, especially at higher speeds(70-80 mph) so i figured it could be two options...
1) Bad tires and need some new ones
2) Front end alignment
...any other options would be helpful?

your tires are not balance..happened to me b4...low speeds it was okay..higher speed went crazy. is it from the back? usually, if its your front tires..sucker would turn by itself. Take a look at it

yeah, the steering wheel will turn to left by itself....and at slower speeds, the steering wheel with turn slightly to the left, and then slightly to the right and does that repeatedly as if i were turning it my self

Odd as it may sound, if you have dead shocks it will cause vibration. I'm not 100% sure yet, but I've tried everything except replacing the shocks. A mechanic recommended me to do so, and since I'm still sitting on stock shocks with H&R race springs for over 3 years, I believe him!
I've tried balanced tires, I have all 4 brand new tires and correctly balanced.
I've checked the engine mounts.
I've checked the wheel bearings.
I've checked the axles.
So the shocks are next.

well, i am thinking i will just go with some new tires, these are old and have look like they have little tread, buti may see if i need an alignment first, b/c if i get new tires, and need an alignment, then my news tires will fck up, that is odd about the shocks but i will look into it, if i were to need mounts...what mounts would u recommend....OEM?

Eg. in the past I used to do alot of highway, and my biggest problem was shakin in the wheel. IT was 90% always because of a unbalanced tire.
But, have you looked at the thread on each tire? Do they look evenly worn? If your cars pulling you will most undoubtabley haev uneven wear on both tires, at this point you definately need an alignment. Then get yourself some decent rubber for the front - mounted and balanced. When haeving them balanced ask them to CHECK for bent rims when balancing. Bent rims can give you that stray steer in the wheel if bad enough.
The next big question, did you hit anything big lately? Curbs, etc. If not, then you should think about having your rack and pin checked. Look for leaks, look for lower power steering fluid, and then listen for whines or some type of click in the wheel when turning.
If all else fails! Your shocks are shot. But this would be more noticable, you would get a boaty ride.
Hope any of this helps at all! good luck!

have realy noticed uneven tread wear, the vibrate does shake vigorously, and pulls to the left on the highway. i havent hit any big curbs or anything, and it is a Dx and doesnt have power steering so i can throw that out. i will check my tread on each tire and then get back with yall to let u know what i came with, i am thinking it is an alignment problem, but then i will have to get some new tires, and have them mounted and balanced. thanks for all the input

Agree with this. What year is your car btw?

I know I was harsh on you in my own post, but that's no reason to read the Vibration Diagnosis Flow Chart I sent you. It would be extremely beneficial for you to just follow those steps.

Re: (egcoupe94)
eg. It doesnt hurt to pay 10 bucks a wheel to have your current tires weighted right to see if it fixes your problem. I mean, watch the guy when he does it.... if you see hinm stop it more than 2 times and mount weights, then YEA those suckers were way out of weighted properly.
Pulling is definately alignment. Could be your strut. If it is they will tell you at the shop that... "we cant align it properly because you have a bad/bent strut". The usual case.
Good Luck.

A shaking problem huh? It sounds like the tires. Whens the last time you had your wheels balanced? I balance mine every 6000 miles and rotate the tires. It could also be a bad axle too. If it was it would shake under acceleration. If your tires are cupped it wouldnt matter if the balance is correct becuase the tire will not roll evenly.

damn, they havent been balanced since i got them....that wa 2 years ago, it isnt so bad at lower speeds, but then at about 60-80 miles an hour, the steering wheel vibrates pretty rough, i guess ill go have em balanced and rotated, i probably need some new one by now.
