Default shaking del sol

I had my top off for the first time since I puchased car. Everything was fine until I hit about 45 mph. The car started shaking back an forth. It needs new tires and alignment! Could this be my problem or do I need to stiffen the body somewhere! By the way car is 93 del sol S model. Thanks for any help!

The chassis is not that stiff when the top is off, because if you think about it, its not all being supported- its disconnected. From what you said, you make it sound as if its very noticeable/bad. Thats probbaly due to a wheel/tire problem. My SOL doesnt SHAKE when I have the top off, but you can definatly feel the difference in stiffness. Sort of on the subject- does anyone have any pics of a sol with a harness bar- or know where to purchase them, or would it be cheaper to get one made, thanks.

Did it still shake when you put the roof back on? If it did, check the lugs. If those are tight, then look into getting an alignment.

yeah you should not have that much 'shimmy' on your sol. i had some on mine, but it was due to poor alignment (toe-in) but i had that fixed. the sol will still vibe a little due to the fact that the roof is the support abutment for the A-pillar & B-pillar. but i would check you alignment/ maybe a wheel balance would help? imo
