my b16a does the same, only it always does it. it revs to 3000 then back down. the only code im throwing is 02 sensor but ive been throwing that forever lol. you can try taking the IACV apart and cleaning it with carb cleaner it may be stuck. i havent gotten around to cleaning mine.

Check for vacuum leaks and make sure your idle adjustment screw is not out of adjustment.

it's wierd that you'd still be able to run w/ a p28 and a cx ecu for sohc, that shouldn't be.... i suggest cleaning out the iac.... or else use the search button

if your talking about the iac valve under the TB theres two thing you can do
#1 you can bypass it
or
#2 take off the valve and take off the two 8mm screws and there will be
a white part with two notches and a balbearing type thing in the center
take two flat head screw drivers or needle nose pillars and tighten it down all the way.
those two things will fix the idle jumping

Im right there with you dude
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=714346
i already bypassed the one under the throttle body and replaced the big one on the back 3 times, and got a new harness, and used diff ecus i dont knwo dude im about to just quit and buy a new motor.
What you can do for a temp fix is unplug it but at 1400 while slowly giving it gas it tried to surge. You will get it when u unplug it and slowly give it gas.

Re: (slowdx)
then im gonna say its a vac leak also if it was the one on the back of the intakeit would throw code 14 and sometimes it wont. so do this drive over
60 mph for 20 miles and see if it throws that code. do this after you reset your ecu

Re: serious problem with iac HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (spoonspeed)
I put a b16b in my 97 hatch and right off the bat it would not stay on without me holding down the gas pedal a little to keep the idle up. Once it warmed up it would idle fine. Then sometimes when I am driving and stop a light it starts to idle crazy. I messed with the screw on the TB and also checked for VAC leaks. I don't know what else it could be. I also running a p28 that has been chipped. Any ideas.........
