semi-built ls/vtec problem
hey, i'm having some issues with my brand new ls/vtec. I just finished doing the conversion and got the engine back on friday. Today i put the motor/tranny in the car. When i connected my battery it sparked all crazy. I disconnected it and waited a few mins and re-connected it. No, sparks this time. I turned the key, and had no power to anything in the car. I took the battery to walmart and they charged it. i put it back in the car after the charge. When i connected the terminals, they got HOT, fast. Then bout 3-4 sec later my ground wire from the tranny->chassis started burning up and smoking all crazy. I let it all cool for a bit and replaced the wire for a bigger one. Reconnected it all and the same thing happened.
So i just pulled out the harness to check for bad wires. checked all the fuses
anybody know what the problem might be?? Everything worked when i pulled my motor. I hydrolocked the ls and built my ls/vtec.
using a obd1 p75 ecu (til i get my p28 chipped), obd1 ls wiring, obd1 b16 dizzy. I still havent got to hear it crank or anything yet.

Re: semi-built ls/vtec problem
I ended up pulling the starter wire and touched the other wire(to the fuse block) to the + then connected the -. No sparks or burning wires. I pulled the starter wire and replaced it, replaced the tranny->chassis ground wire and i was good. I finally was able to start it. Now my only problem is my idle. Its not a steady idle, and sits around 1100-1400 back and forth. Any ideas??
