Default Sellin my car....this is a scam right?

this is his last email

Alright David,
How are you today?.I have forwarded your vehicle information to my client and after evaluation and due to time constraint on the fact that we are running short of time. I'm delighted to tell you that my client has commended your vehicle, with full interest and he has instructed me to carry on with his transaction. He also instructed me to inform you that payment will get to you in a cashier check of $15,630, which is a refund payment of a cancelled order earlier made by my client. Due to company policy this check has to be made out in this amount to you, Because company policy only allows a refund payment on one cashier cheque. So you are required to deduct the cost of your vehicle ( car)$8,200 when payment gets to you and refund balance $7,430 to our agent ( the shipper ) for him to be abled to offset shipping & tax charges, and other cosmetic repair costs. After payment has reached you and balance sen! t to shipper, the shipper's agent will come for inspection, pick up (of vehicle & signing of title papers), make some cosmetic touches and drive to a prepaid shipper to be shipped to my customer. Please confirm this and forward the following informations;

Names:.......
Address:.......
Day time phone number:........

For payment to be made and send to you as soon as possible.
Your honesty, understanding and co-operation will be highly appreciated.

Have a wonderful day.
God bless,
Michael.

Im pretty sure it is before i responding is there any way i can get this guy in trouble or report him?

common scam. tell them you can't send the remaining $7430, or sign over the title to the car until the original amount clears in your bank. that should scare them off, because their check won't clear. the idea is that they give you a bad check, you write them a good check, and they get your car before their check clears. they tried this on my boss's camaro.

yea.. its proally a dude in africa thats doing all this. even if you report it, he wont get caught cause africa and america arent friends. anyways i almost got scammed too by the same type of email before a friend told me all about it. I later got the cashiers check which looked real, then went to the bank to check it carefully and to find out that it was a fake one..

http://www.craigslist.org/about/scams.html

^^^ Refer to the section "Who should I notify about fraud?"

Also that entire page has just about everything you can expect from those types of scammers.

I've sold 4 cars privately (see my sig for 2 of them) and I got an email like this on every single one of my cars. The last one I got, I emailed him back and said that he had to give me his name, address and phone number and then I'll get back to him.

****** unbelieveable that you can't trust anyone anymore, so many scams out there............
