Sell GS-R for hatch?
I know jack about civic hatches, figured this be the place to ask. What trim level comes with what motors? And which motor takes high psi the best. Thanks

Re: (Trunks714)
no hatches come in cx which is the lowest and lightest model. also has the smallest motor and is not wired for vtec
then the vx has some dope light rims weighs in at about the same as the cx but has like 90 or so HP. already wired for vtec.
then dx has 110 or so ponies. weighs more. again no vtec. but has more of your daily driver options.
then the si. sunroof, 130hp vtec, heavy wheels, heaviest car of all by a few hundred.
none are particularly great for boost but with the right setup u can probably run small amounts without much harm. but y not just swap. they are the best platform for that.

actually in the 5th gen civic cx hatches, only the 92 were prewired for vtec.
92 cx+gsr motor and suspention=

Re: Sell GS-R for hatch? (Mnintegra)
why are all of you guys assuming he's asking about a 92-95 hatch? maybe he wants a 96-00. anyway, if getting a 92-95, the only one with an engine worth working with is the si, which has the sohc vtec 125 hp engine. all of the other engines suck, and should be swapped asap if bought. if getting a 96-00, all of the engines suck, and should be swapped.

Re: (mooseknuckle)
so, i could get into an early to mid 90s year civic hatch in decent condition, then drop a b18c1 in there...
I have a honda book here, that says the b18c1 is "the bomb" for engine swaps into civics. I figured that out on the internet when i got into hondas tho..lol
anyway, it also says when dropping into 90-99 civics, it requires fabrication for limited slip transaxle.
Is this difficult.
And what does a good condition 96 GS-R go for, with no motor..lmfaoo

uh, what book have you been reading? gsr's don't come with a lsd. swapping a gsr engine into a 96-00 civic isn't very hard, either. its not that much more work than into a 92-95. don't sell your car without your engine. you won't be able to get more than maybe $1.5k for it.

Re: (Mnintegra)
I was just looking at motor prices on inlinefour.com
anyone know of other places to buy a b18c1 motor? Im sure i would have to either find local or go pick it up, i can just imagine what the shipping would be.

Re: (big jul)
thanks for the link man...
i have another question tho...
i see on password jdm, that the B16A 2nd Gen that they sell is 170bhp and they ask $1899 for the complete swap, where as the b18c is same bhp and they want $3099, or is that the jdm b18c, either way, the power differences arent that big are they???? does the 170bhp b16a 2nd gen just suck ***** or what?

Re: (EVIL Hx Coupe)
the whole difference that makes it worth the money is the torque. hondas have a severe torque defficency so u need all u can get.

anyone?</TD></TR></TABLE> you shouldn't base a hatch purchase off whether it's wired for Vtec or not. It's not a problem doing it. Just make sure you do the pinning right. i would avoid the si for doing a swap because of the wieght difference for sure. Plus the sunroof is good for adding alot more flex to your chassis. a descent thing about the si is you will 4 disc.
