Default self locking nut

just wondering how many of you actually replace the self locking nut that goes onto the bolt that goes thru the front lca. the nut that goes on the bolt at the bottom of the shock fork, in simpler terms. helms says replace it but just wondering how many of you never replaced this nut and how many times youve taken it off and on. any probs with it coming off on its own?
