Second Blown Head gasket... :/
Ok so heres the story....I got a 94 ex coupe for free, with a blown headgasket. Towed it to school so i can work on it after work for class credit. I did a leak down test...all four cylinders were bad . Tore it all apart and messured head. Worpted head. Got the head machined and pressure tested. Everything checked out. Cleaned block, slapped new head gasket on along with new mani gaskets. Car ran fine for two weeks. Sold it to my bro for $2300. Yesterday i get a call from him saying he is stuck and the car is over heating. I go check it out......and guess what...blown head gasket again.... FML! I read some reading on here, and from what i got here makes me think i should have put in new head bolts too. Alldata and michel said nothing about replacing them... Haha any thoughts on what I may have done wrong or may have over looked?? Anything thing will help!!!
Thanks

depends on the bolts....were they used for many torque downs? I believe stocks shouldnt be used more then 3 torque downs because of stretching, however many many people re-use them and re-use them.
I guess ideally you want to measure them to see if they stretched, if you have access to 1/100 of " measurement tools...then you should check em.
Id guess it was something else though.
Just a though though.....grab a cheap d16, and swap it for your bro...I mean you had to make 2k profit off him.

I believe this was the third or fourth time they were torqued. Block was seized and replaced with a D16A block, same head was reused. Then me torqueing em again. When I got it the first head bolt you take out was really loose. Had a hard time getting my straight edge on the block...it was to long and wouldn't fit....and I wish I could just buy a new one....spent most of it on more tools... :/ and I only made like $1500...but that's beside the point

Re: Second Blown Head gasket... :/
Ok so I figured it out...kinda funny I think. I measured the head bolts they were ok, but bought new ones just because, checked the head and block. Both were fine...so it left me scratching my head....then it dawned on me...what if the head had to much surface machined off. So with the new head bolts i bought two head gaskets..slapped it all back together and it has been running fine ever since!!

Something tells me this won't end well...
If too much material was shaved off in the first place, the car would have running issues, pre-detonation, valves slapping pistons, etc...probably not overheating due to a blown headgasket

You put in 2 head gaskets? Jesus. Why didn't you just ask the machine shop how much they took off? They wouldn't have taken too much off, I'm sure they know the tolerances of warpage.

This is correct... if the machine shop took off to much off the head than u found some idiots and for putting 2 headgaskets on ur car well you don't seem to be thinking correctly either no offense intended but that is a horrible idea just asking for disaster
