Seat belt retraction 92-95 civic and 93 del sol.
On both of my eg civics and now the del sol I bought for my g/f the drivers side seat belt has a hard time retracting. The guy I bought the del sol from said honda had a recall on the seat belts to fix this problem. I was wondering if anyone has this problem and is there an easy fix for it? I know on my last hatch the one time the belt pulled all the way out and I stuck a screw driver in there and it finally wound back up.
Any suggestions would be great.

My helms manual says if your seat belts don't retract, just take some q-tips and clean the belt guide by your shoulder that the belt slides through. I read that, and took a look at mine, and couldn't believe how much hard gunk buildup there was. I didn't have any alcohol, so I havn't cleaned them yet...
But I would try that first.

That's what the guy at the dealership told me.
Think about it...if they turn you down to repair the seatbelts and you get into a horrible accident and the belts fail, you could sue the **** out of them. The cost of replacing the seatbelts is miniscule in comparison to the lawsuits that could be brought up against them.

What if you're the third owner of the car?
