scared to boost?!??!
hey ive got a gsr with arp headstuds, skunk 2 s1 cams, b16 lsd tranny and a skunk2 IM.. i know a little about boost, but ive heard you really need to build the gsr for boost.
question is.. am i good to run about 8-10 psi DAILEY??? or less? if i do go boost i will be getting new head gasket too (obviously)
thanks in advance.

I dont see why you would need the new headgasket unless the one you have leaks. With a proper tune you should have no problems running 8-10 psi on pump gas.

It is never a good idea to attempt to make lots of power on your daily. Power and breakage go hand in hand. However, at 8psi if people are blowing their gsrs it is due solely to a crappy tune. People HIGHLY under-estimate a tune. A good tune is the difference between thousands of miles of fun or 3 miles of terror. If you do not have complete trust in your tuner, dont go to him.

i agree with dragonfly on the importance of tuning. i had a bone stock ls/v and boosted 9 psi low and 12 psi high for over 2 yrs. and in those 2 years i had countless runs and abuse to that motor. the tune and the fact that i didnt take my car passed a certain point (like 8k rpm) made the difference from a fun daily rather than a broke push cart.
pay the extra $ for a good tune, it will pay off in the end...

Thats not a good way to look at it. They may cost alot in short term, but a broken sleeve or something will cost alot more later on. Pay the money dont skimp out on a cheap tune.

You can 300whp on GSR's its all about the tune that really matters. I ran 12PSI iwith a T3T4 50 Trim n a stock SOHC VTEC for a while and it held up fine. I say go for it, no need to be scared. If you are scared shouldn't boost, it'd be a waste.

the only things i suggest just to be safe is getting bigger injectors and bigger fuel pump after a damn good tune, air/fuel guauge, psi gauge, and oil pressure gauge, oil pressure is very important. this is pretty much all i have on my ls boosted and i've been doing great! i'm running 20 lbs of boost average day

Just like everyone said, don't be cheap & you will be fine.
If you put quality parts on the vehicle & install everything professionally you shouldn't run into issues.
What will keep your ringlands from cracking ?
A GOOD engine management system & tuning.
I.E. Hondata, Neptune, eCtune

I am unfamiliar with spool characteristics of a gt35 on a b18 but i do know the turbo is fantastic. The gt35r is in my eyes the perfect turbo for a multi-duty car simply because it is capable of supplying large amounts of raw power with impressive response.
