Sagging VIS CF Hood
So I purchased a VIS OEM CF hood about 6 months ago for my 96 to 99 front end conversion. The hood installed fine, looks great and I was extremely happy with the product.
Until that is, a week or so ago when approaching my car whilst leaving work, I noticed that there is a dip starting to form in the ceenter of the hood. Its as though it is starting to sag. It has about a 12inch diameter....and I believe its too subtle to be a dent of any kind.
I can only guess that this is some kind of heat damage from the car being outside 24/7 in the Fl heat?!? Or maybe heat from the motor?
I was wondering if anyone else had had a similar problem, and how they fixed it? The sag doesnt pop-out like a dent would when pressure is applied to the underside of the hood. I was thinking maybe removing it and making some kind of vice to hold it for a few days and it would hopefully bend back out.
Has anyone come across this before? I searched and couldnt find anything. Please advise - would really appreciate some help with this...

I once had a VIS hood and it did the same thing. It became so thin you could press the middle up and down. No more VIS for me.

I sold it for cheap and replaced it. The problem is that area on mine was really thin, and the heat only made it worse.

Lets see if that works.
Its really hard to make out in the pictures, but you can spot where the light/reflection is warping.
Its more noticible to the naked eye when you walk past or approach it. To be honest, it doesnt look as bad today, but then again, its not as hot outside as it usually is.
I apologize if the pics didnt go through - first attempt.

hmm is there underbracing right under that area? on my hood i've had it for about a year and never had a problem, you might want to call VIS and see if its under warranty because that should not happen

i had one from VIS. i have never had a problem with it. it is going on three years now. it is a good idea to have it recleared once a year or at least a really buffing job so it will stay shinny.

yup sold it to me. It still has the dent in it and it looks like it is starting to get a wave effect. Oh and the best part is the clearcoat on it is faded. I would just sell the one you have and get a new one, befor it gets worse.

Re: Sagging VIS CF Hood (Soccerking3000)
Well I contacted both prostreetonline and VIS. Neither have any kind of warranty for this problem. VIS stated that they will only switch the hood out if it were to fade within the first couple weeks of owning it. They also said that prostreetonline were not in their system. Funny that.
I think I may have to heat it up, do the best I can at restoring its shape, then add some additional heat shielding. That or sell it for a new one.
I see that recent CF hood poll, and VIS has 50% of the votes. I know I wont be buying one of theirs again.

i got a vis evo cf hood...the center of my hood has the evo type vent if u dunno what it looks like...
when i got the hood there were 2 noticable cracks...if u go real close to the car u see them..that was the shipping co fault but i never claimed anything....but other than that as far as fading or saggin goes i have had no problems...i've had it almost a year now...
out of the co' that make cf hoods...i liek vis...their material is bette rthan the rest i;ve seen

Re: (kingkong)
It's all fun and games till somebody has a saggy hood.
My advice: I would go straight to the top. Bitch slap the VIS president with your hood and call it a day.

Re: (loweg)
i don't know if its new or i just didn't notice it until i saw this thread... i was parking my car in the garage, and when the light from outside hit the hood i saw a sag in mine as well in the same exact spot, same exact size... mine is a 99-00 VIS OEM hood, i wonder if there was a bad batch?? do they print series or serial numbers on the hoods?
i touched the hood and it seemed quite flimsy in that area... i doubt they'll replace mine because i've cut into it to put hoodlocks in. then again that has nothing to do w/ that area of the hood, they will say it hurt the integrity of the CF though, i know how it goes. oh well, hope there's a solution either way.
