I'd do more searching before you start getting to deep into the project. ARP rod bolts on stock rods thats about all the tech I feel like offering. Just search more on the different technical forums, this questions has been asked many times, how about listing all the mods in your setups from top to bottom and I'm sure you'll get a better answer from the board.

yea, my bad i edited it. i dont know why or how i did that. ok well nevermind i found that i cant use gsr rods with an ls crank. but i bought thsese gsr rods fitted to b16 pistons already, what would be the process of putting these pistons on my ls rods?

Re: Safe revving?? (Mr. Samurai)
ok nevermind revving for now. will i be able to use the pr3 pistons that came on the gsr rods i bought. can i put them on my ls rods no problem? as in, will this work out ok,gsr head, ls block, ls crank, ls rods, b16(pr3)pistons?? and, whats the process of taking the b16a pistons off the gsr rods and putting them on my ls rods that currently have b16b pistons on them?

Re: Safe revving?? (92eg6lsvtec)
Are you trying to drop your compression?? Cuz if you do have CTR (b16b) pistons I'd stay there, that gives you close to 12.5:1 cr if im not mistaken

your bottom end isn't limiting your rpm's, your head is. valve springs and retainers will allow you to rev higher, and cams will allow you to actually make power up top. Without cams, there is no reason to rev over stock redline, because the car won't make any more power.

Re: Safe revving?? (IHateJDM)
no i melted a hole in one of the ctr's. and my cr was around 13:3:1. so can i use this setup ok ls crank, ls rods, b16 pistons in the ls block as far as block height and everything

Re: Safe revving?? (IHateJDM)
As far as I know, and from talking to a tuner at the dyno near me, 12.5:1 cr is like the max you can run on pump gas in my area, 92 octane. So if you were trying to 13.3:1 on pump gas, you'd have to run that thing really rich so it wouldn't melt.

Re: Safe revving?? (eXcelonTypeR)
o, yea it melted due to pre-detonation cuz i was runing 87 octane on accident. and yea with 13:3:1 cr u cant run pump gas unless tuned real good. i was unaware tho that this motor had ctr pistons, the guy didnt tell me when i bought the car. anyways, so will those pistons work in this setup as far as height issue?

Re: Safe revving?? (92eg6lsvtec)
If i remember correctly, a shop that quoted me on a LS/vtec setup for me said LS rods and CTR pistons would get me around 12.2:1-12.5:1 cr...but that was like a couple years ago

Re: (92eg6lsvtec)
If you're worried about the pistons hitting the valves and the height of using ls crank rods, and b16 pistons, you can clay the motor and see how much clearance you have. Finding the clearnace can also help you determine the cams that you can use so you dont make any contact from going with a wild cam.
