Safe????
Is it safe to have a non-reclineable bucket seat w/4point harness and no rollcage? Why? Sounds kinda funny just wondering.

No road racing, but more for daily driving.

Then IMO that's all the more reason you should go ahead and add a roll cage.. Otherwise that could be a really bad setup if you roll the car . Be safe man!

Re: Safe???? (EM2MoNsTeR)
most people wil say it is unsafe because if the car were to roll, the bucket/harness combo will not let you lean over into the passenger seat to get out from under a collapsing roof.also, having to put on a harness and properly tighten it will lead some people to either not put it on at all,or not properly adjust it as it may be uncomfortable.in the event of a crash, this can lead to more danger than if you had just regular old stock stuff.
i have a bucket, harness and rollbar in my coupe, but i don't drive it every day.i definatelty woudn't want to deal with that in the car i drive all the time.

this is very true....if you want harnesses you need a roll cage or at least a harness bar. Search this subject and you will find alot of reasons why it is completely unsafe during an accident. Why you think stock seatbelts are located above the shoulder of people, it is there to stop spinal compression during an accident. If want harnesses for safety, you have do set them up so they are safe.

if you roll the car... your head will get smashed because the harness will restrict movement. you have to get it all.

that's hard to say-many bucket seats have side bolsters that stick out so far that the stock seatbelt won't be sitting against you properly.that could lead to too much movement in a crash.
as said above-get it all or none.
also, somebody mentioned a cage-most people will agree that's not a good idea either in a treet car because of the close proximity of the roof/pillar bars toyour head.stick to a rollbar that stays behind the front seats.

Yeah, that was me but I minced words- meant to say roll bar instead of roll cage..

like how? street racing
theres no reason to have a harness and seat for daily driving....
if you really want to, fine, but then get a rollbar.
your car will crush in, but your body will not cause you'll be strapped to a non-reclining seat. ewwww
