Sad in Oz - Fresh replacement engine , installed, timing belt slips on start up and valve noise ?
Hi all - quick one. IVe done a recent DIY replacing my 1992 EG5 Si engine (d16a8) eith another donor with about 25,000miles less and other bits n pieces spare. Installe dfine and bolted everything up -
Problem = this -
1. On start up , the engine screeches from the timing belt for a few seconds before the revs drop down and idles fine. I first thought it was alternator or PS...but they are fine -
what is a likely reason/result of this ?
2. valve noise is slightly louder than usual ( IE my last engine) so i suspect either the valve clearence is iffy or maybe a valve ? Car runs fine and revs normal tho...
The previous owner assures me timing belt + water pump etc where replaced less than 15,000 miles ago - without taking it to a mech. anything i can look for ?!
