Ok, Title Says it all, gonna be Throwing in a S2k cluster into my ej1, and pretty much wanted to know whats the difference between the ap1, and ap2 clusters, as far as easy to install, to more features? or better looking ? what's everyones opinion on it, and why...

Since your looking for everyone's opinions....i would say drop the idea. I know a number of people have done the install, but why?

I think the cluster is cheesy and not worth doing at all, it's not that great

why? because its all digital Led, compared too the standard analog View, and i asked for everyones opinion on which is better

but since you said drop the idea, i wanted to know why you would NOT want an s2000 cluster in your standard honda? i thought every honda owner strives to be different from every other honda that drives by them ( RWD k20's in civic's, Awd Honda's) you know? why not be THAT much different from every other driver, well thats my 2 cents in it, just thought it be cool, to have that feature

I like the AP1 cluster, but maybe that's because I have an S2000, but seriously I'd say do it, I've seen several cars with this done and wanted to do it in my old 91 Si hatch, it gives the car a sort of "race car" feel.

Well, the S2000 cluster doesn't really match anything in the car, it doesn't fit well at all in the cluster housing without fabbing up extra trim all the around it...ends up being kind of getto in most cases, plus it means a complete rewire.

Although i can appreciate you are trying to customize you car with personal taste, i would say spend your time/money on a better mod, imo You can already get a few very nice clusters for your car from different models around the world that are different and plug right in, and still oem, plus clean!! Many people respect a clean and well built car!

Just because the cluster is digital, doesn't make it better, ever wonder why all high end cars run needle style gauges?

yeah i respect that and bro, lol if im gonna do ANYTHING in my car its not gonna be a half *** job, you can believe that right now, which means a fully functional s2k cluster , BUT i guess its an opinion right? everybody has one.. i think it looks super clean i mean cmon you cant say this isnt hardcore -vv this is how im gonna make mine look if i do it

s2k cluster ftw.. i want one for my eg too.
although i would love to help u out, i am in the same position as u because i also want to know whats the difference between the 2 . weather its just the look..or diff features.
i would say though, my choice of either cluster would be the ap1 cluster just because the rpm's ride across the whole cluster which i personally think is dope.

yeah, i was taking a closer look on the detail, and ok heres what i found feel free to correct me if im wrong

ap1- has no clock, but Rpm's ride all across the cluster, and is not color customizable( cheaper)
ap2- Shortend Rpm Size, Built In clock, customizable color's, (higher price, why?)

anyone else would like to throw their 0.02$ in their i would greatly appreciate it

I vote for the AP1.

Thats only on the way it looks. As far as ease to install, your guess is as good as mine.

i didnt even know bout the color customizing and clock....good to know...n i think its at a higher price because of the extra features..just my thought
maybe that 3'rd plug is for them extra features ..who knows

Yeah, i think im just gonna go with the AP1, it seems to be cheaper and easier to install... and im liking how the rpm's ride across all the way, AP1 it is, can someone link me a good diy on s2k cluster into ej1?

i kinda like the ap2 more. the ap1 looks more like an older maxima digi dash. to flat for me. i also remember reading over a write up of the 2 into the eg here on ht. just have to find it. i dont no much about them other than lost of people have probs with getting it to read the vss because if something crazy

Ive done a few conversions and to be honest the VSS is the least difficult thing to deal with. The thing I had a problem with was the headlights. One harness worked perfectly prior to the conversion and once I wired in the AP1 plugs the headlights would never come on. I went ahead and bought another stock dash harness and did the conversion over and the headlights worked perfectly. Oh well...

I thougt there was all kinds of people(proffesionals) making vss adaptors, wiring adaptors, mounting kits etc JUST for the ap1/2 into civics.
I know there was a guy in the uk that did the whole wiring for you and sent it back to you through the mail. Its gotten really cheap compared to whe. They first started messing with this idea

personally i wouldn want an s2k cluster in my civic just cause i think it looks kinda ricer. but if you really wanna do it then i would say get the ap1.
