s2000 steering wheel on 98 civic???
has anyone on here had experience putting a 2008 s2000 steering wheel on a 96-00 civic?
i know the 02-03 AP1 wheel is plug and play, but the 2008 wheel has 2 stage airbags and there will be a wiring issue for me, being that my 98 civic has a 1-stage airbag.
i was wondering if i can just wire it for the second stage and leave the first unwired being that my civic doesnt have a low speed deployement module to begin with.
anyone with experience on this would be highly appreciated...and people who dont know what im talking about in the paragraph above...PLEASE DONT RESPOND TO THIS.
also...if i put the new wheel on and leave the airbag completely unplugged...will my SRS light come on? i was just wondering how i would even like the wheel, before cutting wires.

i think it is a single mechanism, with two stage electronic wiring and deployment. I dont believe you can "unwire" or remove the low speed deployment. It either is or isnt. If you leave it unplugged, yes your SRS light WILL come on. However, remove your cluster (very easy), and remove the bulb and....whhaaallaaahhh no more light.
Be careful if you get a wheel from across seas, they dont allow most companies to import steering wheels with the airbag mechanism. For instance, HMotorsOnline.com....they have a DC5R and a EP3R wheel for sale, with airbag, but they remove the deployment equipment.

well, its not that im gonna unwire or remove it. the low speed thing is only on the steering wheel...so it will just remain unwired...but the high speed thing is on the wheel and my car, so thats what i was going to wire. basically the wheel has 4 wires, and my cr has 2 wires. i was gonna wire my 2 to 2 of the ones on the wheel.

I wouldn't mess with the SRS internal system. Just get an AP1 wheel, it's not worth risking your life. ****, you can find AP1 wheels almost anywhere. No sense in getting the AP2.

Re: s2000 steering wheel on 98 civic???
yeah...i was actually thinking that for the last few hours.
i got the wheel because it was only $200, and i know the ap1 wheels go for like 450 on ebay. i guess the jew in me got the best of me this time, lol...but im assuming i can make a quick 300 bucks if i just re-sell it. i already put it on the car with the bags unplugged. it looks unbelievably good and feels awesome. but i dont wanna drive it without the use of the airbag. so i might just take it off tomorrow.
