Default S Trim Weight Versus SI trim weight 1993 Honda Del Sol

I have been doing some research about my 93 Honda Del Sol SI Trim, manual, in regards to how much it weights. I found that the S trim, same year, weights roughly 100 pounds less than the SI trim, and I am trying to figure out where that weight came from? I know the SI trim got some better electronics, rims, brakes, engine but hardly enough change to gain over 100 pounds. For the sake of curiosity, I am just wondering if anyone knows where that extra weight came from as I have looked through specs of both to no avail.

Thanks,
Matthew

Different motors and tranny. "S" comes w/ a non-VTEC 1.5L SOHC engine while the "SI" comes with a D16z6 1.6L SOHC VTEC. That's where the weight difference is.

The "S" is the base model, no power luxuries. Between being all manual, having no a/c, no cruise control, being on 13 in rims, and different suspenision/brake components...thats were the weight difference mostly is. It does however matter if the car is auto or not. Where ever you got your data should state weight for auto version and manual version. Auto trans is significantly heavier than manual, but no 100lbs.

You must have never owned a Del Sol. They do come with A/C and power windows. The suspension is all the same, whether it's a "S", "SI" or "DOHC VTEC". You might want to check your sources before making lame assumptions.

The Si's had strut bars added on to them, and rear disk brakes.
The VTEC's had rear strut bars added on, also a chassis bar up front, and stiffer springs.
Some of them didn't have a/c.

Factory A/C is an option....mostly for Northern Honda dealerships. Additional parts here and there do add up to 100lbs.

FYI, rear disc brakes are lighter than rear drums.
