Rust build up on wheel studs with spoon lug nuts?
I'm rotating my wheels right now
(back story, 17" Buddy Clubs, spoon sports lug nuts, had on less than a year)
When taking off the lug nuts, a little harder than usual, took more elbow grease, anyway, I took them off, and there is more rust on the threads of the wheels studs than normal, is it because of the lug nuts?
Does anyone know of a good prevention mention for this?
Maybe a thin coat of wax on the threads?

its normal for your studs to rust, especially if they are extended, if you have stainless steele studs and ive never any.

if they are open end then yes, they will rust quicker then normal as lug nuts are open to fairly severe heating and cooling along with other external enviormental factors. to prevent the rusting and use a dab of anti-seize compound.

Are the Spoon lug nuts aluminum? Are your wheel studs steel? If so aluminum and steel react with electrolytes such as salt/rain to form Aluminum Oxide. It's corosive to the aluminum and is probably building up in the threads. The best way to fix this is to spray some sort of aluminum containing coating over the threads of the stud but depending on what you use, the coating could come off easily.
